Does this man have a character problem?

I met this man on a penpal site, and he lived several hours away, we met and hit it off and started to have a long distance relationship. This other lady from Europe met him on the penpal site and was emailing him a lot. She kept trying to flirt with him and he kept telling her that he and I were trying to make it work. Finally she said that "I won" and she left him alone. After 6 months, we started pulling apart from each other with the distance and frustration. The last time I saw him, he seemed really distant, and then not long after he emailed me a breakup letter. I looked on her site and sure enough, she had flown all the way from Europe to see him, which is why I think he was edgy and nervous the last time I saw him because she was either coming to see him the week before or after he saw me. So anyhow, I guess they started some sort of flirtation online since then and she came to visit him this past week, which I knew about since I saw it on his profile. However he emailed me right in the middle of her visit, and never mentioned it but said hello and how was I and he had been thinking of me lately, then he emailed the next day and asked me if I wanted to chat from time to time. I have no idea what to make of this. I don't want him back, but I just hate how he never told me she was coming to visit and basically kept that from me and then sent me the break up letter. Now this? What would she think if she knew he had emailed me twice in the middle of her visit?
